Altered Photo Frames

Hello friends!

Lately, I have been working on altering photo frames which I got from Ikea. I thought of making a combined post of it. They're pretty easy to alter and I think it's a perfect gift for your loved ones.

All I did was paint them with Distress Paints. First, one is painted with Shabby Shutters, then next is in Antique Linen and the last one is in Spiced Marmalade.

Then added all the required embellishments. Few of them are by Prima Marketing, Recollections. Tim Holtz, Finnabair etc.

Burlesque Fantasy Mini Configuration Box

Hi there!

Today, I am posting another Mini Configuration Box. I'm currently obsessed with them. I recently ordered Prima Marketing Wood Icons Box embellishment. To be honest, I just adore them. So, I thought to alter another one of them. Who could throw the cutest wood packing away?? I CAN'T!!!

I painted the box with Distress Paint in Walnut Stain. Then covered it with vintage brown pattern paper. It's from My Mind's Eye The Best Of Lost & Found™ Paper Pad. It comes in 12x12" with 180 sheets. I love all the designs and they're just perfect for vintage themed projects.

Next, I pulled up some blooms from Prima's new flower collection. I have used Allegra Vintage Emporium. Also, the cute little clock is from Prima's 'Vintage Emporium' Wood Icons Box. Then adjusted Tim Holtz's metal frame (FAV!). Next, I painted some wood veneers by Jillibean Soup. The set is 'today printed' and comes in 11 pieces. End step was to fill up the mini jar with silver glitter and stick some cream and silver rhinestones.

I hope you liked the box! Until next time.

Here again with another altered Prima Marketing's wood icons box. Painted the entire box using Distress Paint in Walnut Stain. Then for the base, I've used My Mind Eye's 6x6" Paper Pad (forgot which one was it - Sorry!). Embellishments are by Tim Holtz, Heidi Swapp, Prima Marketing & Recollection. Butterfly die is by Sizzix which again has been distressed using Faded Jeans & Aged Mahogany.

Let's have a closer look!

This is pretty much it! I hope you liked it!

Unforgettable Moments Canvas

Hi there! Today’s Crafters' Palette post is a multi-layered canvas. Trust me it’s super easy to make. It hardly took 45 minutes!

First, I grabbed three cardstocks and tore them up. Then I distressed them using a bunch of Distress Ink colors and used Distress Spray Stains in ‘Festive Berries’ & ‘Seedless Preserves’.

Next, I grabbed some chipboard embellishments and used Distress Paints all over them. I used ‘Antique Linen’ & ‘Black Soot’. I then cut out some butterflies using the gorgeous Winged Beauties Thinlit Dies, and distressed them in two-tone. The last step was to add some Prima flowers!

Hope you liked it! Till next time!

Baby Shower Boxes

Hello there! Today’s post is all about making customized boxes. Trust me – it’s quite easy!

These are baby shower boxes which I did recently. I bought some plain boxes to decorate, but you could use one of the Sizzix bag/box dies to create your own (did I mention they’re also on sale?!).

I covered the edges of my box lid with lace. To cover the ends of the lace, I attached a bow that said ‘It’s a Girl’.

For the front, I layered three cardstocks. I used a foam tape to give a dimensional look. The top paper has been distressed using an ‘Evergreen Bough’ Distress Ink Pad – plain white looked too boring! On the other side, I die-cut some butterflies using the gorgeous Sizzix Winged Beauties Thinlits.

I glued a few rhinestones here and there to finish my box. TAA-DAA! The boxes were done – pretty simple huh?

Floral Mini Configuration Box

Hi everyone!
I have a new mini configuration box to share with you all for Crafters' Pallete.

You won’t believe where I got the box from! It’s a piece of packaging from a Prima product I bought a while ago – it was just perfect for altering!

I covered the entire box with some scrapbook paper and distressed the edges using Distress Paint in Walnut Stain to define the edges. Once I covered the whole thing, I began to embellish – the fun part, of course! I glued on some Prima flowers (if you haven’t already seen the new range of Prima flowers at Crafters’ Palette, they are so worth taking a look!), and added some metal embellishments. I also added a wooden butterfly to the bottom right-hand corner and filled a miniature glass bottle with silver glitter and a ‘love’ note.

Sounds pretty easy to make, right? It definitely is! I hope you like today’s post – ‘til next time!

Honeycomb Card

April's Resolution: Going to post as much as I can! LOL! Let's hope that happens. I've been trying to manage my time since forever and it is not working.

Anyway, hello to everyone who comes and goes by regularly. I aplogize for not posting as much as I should. I will try to do it regularly from now on.

So, let begin! Background has been done using Distress Inks and Spray Stains in 'Seedless Preserves' & 'Peacock Feathers'. I went over with Tim Holtz stencil here and there with both inks and sprayed the edges. Also, I used a Distress Marker in cream shade (I don't remember the name of it) with Spritzer and sprayed randomly.

Tip - If you need various spray bottles and they're out of your budget. Go for the markers and buy a spritzer. Markers can be used for both watercoloring and spraying. Basically it's a 2-in-1 product.

Then picked out some blooms from Prima and glued them together. I felt something should be added so I had these branches of SOMETHING.. I literally don't know what they're called but I picked up these from a tree when I was having a family pinic. They came in handy! Haha! However, they were originally light brown in color and I sprayed them with 'Walnut Stain'. Once they were dried I glued them with the bunch of flowers.

Butterfly die is from Sizzix inked in 'Seedless Preserves' & 'Peacock Feathers'. Also I used Spellbinders layered frame die and stamped 'I Love You' using SimonSaysStamp stamp set. Base frame has been distressed using 'Vintage Photo' and top one using 'Seedless Preserves'. To finish off I added some bronze flat pearls bought from Micheals.

Here is a close-up of the Spellbinders die!

I hope you liked the project. Do leave a feedback! Until next time!

6 Gorgeous Techniques Using Distress Inks

Today’s post is definitely going to be interesting for all those who are just IN LOVE with the Distress Inks (like me!). They’re one of my most used crafty items. Let’s get into some tips and techniques on how we can use them.

1. Distressing
This is the most basic use of Distress Inks. You can use them to distress paper, cardstock or any other surface you have. You can create some amazing vintage or shabby-chic styles with this fab medium.

2. Stamping
Here is another super basic and of course natural way to use Distress Inks. Ink your stamp and simply press it down on the paper. The type of stamp doesn’t matter – you can use any kind from clear to cling and wood to mounted. Also, one important thing to note here is that Distress Inks are water-based, so adding other mediums may bleed the ink and distort your image.

3. Blending
This is one of my FAVOURITE techniques! No other ink pad will give you as good results at blending than Distress Inks. Not even close! The colours mix so beautifully and can be applied lightly, or layered together to get a rich, deep background. Firstly, choose any 2 or more Distress Ink colours. For this tag, I used the new Wilted Violet Ink Pad, Mustard Seed and Peacock Feathers. Use a blending tool to pick up your ink, and work in circular motions across your paper. Start off at the paper’s edge, and slowly work into the paper to avoid getting blotches. Lastly, start blending the colours as you go. Layering various inks together gives you countless colour combinations.

4. Stencilling
Directly place the stencil over the paper and apply the Distress Ink onto it. The Distress Spray Stains can also be used through stencils to create some gorgeous effects. Tape the stencil to the paper with any temporary adhesive so that it holds the stencil and prevents movement. Once you’re done, remove the stencil and there you have a gorgeous pattern! You can also blend inks to create some gorgeous graduated effects.

5. Watermarking
The most distinctive feature of Distress Inks is their ability to work with water. Spray water on anyDistress Ink background and watch the ink move. You can create watermarked effects by adding few drops of water to an inked surface, or using a water brush to draw a design. When you have finished adding the water, use a paper towel to gently blot the surface and remove the ink.

6. Reverse Stencilling
Ever heard of it? No? Let me tell you! If you ever want to have watercolour background effect, this is a great way to do it. Take a stencil and start inking it; blending colour in this technique works well. You just need three main things for this technique: Distress Inks (of course!), a stencil and a misting tool. All you have to do is apply the inks to the surface of your stencil, mist it with water and place ink-side down onto your paper. Press lightly, and lift off the stencil to reveal a gorgeous watercolour background!

Vintage Apology Card

Hello!

I'm back after way too long and this time I am trying to manage my schedule better than the last year. I hope it goes well! Anyway, so here I am posting my very first project for January & this is my current FAV. I liked how it turned out!

First of all, I have used Ranger Watercolor Paper. Honestly speaking if you are working with Distress Inks. You have to give them a TRY! You will definitely see a major difference between using an regular paper and a watercolor paper. Also, the one thing I liked about Ranger Watercolor Paper is that it has two sides one is smoother and other is the textured one. Here I went with the textured side, distressed it with Vintage Photo and did the edges with Black Soot. Then layered a Tim Holtz Latticework Stencil on top and inked it with Walnut Stain. Next I sprayed it with Distress Stain in Gathered Twigs. This was my first time using Spray Stains and I loved how they make the entire background pop. I absolutely love the effect!

For the metal embellishments, I chose Prima's clock and Tim Holtz's compass.

Leafy branches and cog are Sizzix dies. I have Distress Painted the two branches in Walnut Stain.

Top-right framelits are again from Sizzix. I have over-layered two frames. I have used black glitter sheet for the base and on the top comes the text. It has been die-cut on a plain paper which has been later distressed in Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain

In the end I have glued some paper flowers in Maroon which went totally well with the vintage look.

I hope you like it. Drop in some love in the comments below!

Mini Canvas in PINK!

Hello crafty fellows!

I hope you are enjoying your winter holidays! Today I am posting a mini canvas that was presented as Christmas gift. The lady wanted something colorful with an name initial on it and this is what I ended up with.

I have used PCW word art file in here. You can find the link HERE. The set comes with 4 different texts. I just love the chalky effect of it!

First of all, I painted the mini canvas using Distress Paint in 'Picked Raspberry' then I stamped the canvas using one of the Tim Holtz Anonymous Stamp. Then added few flowers, name initial and PCW word art.

I hope you like today's post & have an amazing new year.

Configuration Box

Hello Crafty People!

I hope you're doing fab! I am here with a Configuration Book Shadow Box. It's a Tim Holtz Configuration Box which is about 6 x 9 x 1.25 inches and has 6 compartments.

So, firstly I covered the entire box using MME Pretty Things 6x6" cardstock. I adore this paper pad. It's so vintage and floraly. I simply can't get over these papers.

The paper was 6x6" so I overlapped two sheets and added a lace over it. Lace has been distressed by Walnut Stain Paint. Flowers are randomly picked from Prima and Recollection flowers packs.

Here comes my favorite part - THE INSIDE. Again, on the left I have overlapped two sheets covered the joined with the distressed lace. The sides of the box and edges of every cut out sheet is also distressed by the same paint.

I didn't cover it much, as the papers were itself gorgeous. So, just added few flowers and metal embellishments here and there.

I have used PCW word art file in there. You can find the link HERE. The set comes with 4 different texts. I just love this set because it almost goes with every project I make.

Framelits dies are by Sizzix. On the left
compartment, hanging metal embellishment is by Prima. I love the little crown at the bottom. On the right, I went with the mini jar with silver glitter and text in it.

I hope you like today's post! See you next time!

Burst of Bubble Canvas

Here I am with another canvas post! I have used Distress Paint in 'Picked Rasberry'. It's a perfect shocking pink. Fancy framelit is by Sizzix. For flowers I went with Prima and Recollections. As always! I think they both have such a huge variety and best of all.

Till next time!

Configuration Box

Hello to November!

It's been so so long since I have last posted! Orders and studies have been keeping me busy. There are so many projects to be posted!!! I wish there were a bit more than 24 hours a day. Sigh!

Anyway, I did this Configuration Box which is by Tim Holtz recently. This was my first time doing it and I had fun making it. Lets get into the details!

First of all, I painted the edges from inside out by Distress Paint 'Black Soot'. Now for the front I covered it with DCWV 'Old World Stack' paper. It was more like a brighter blue but I distressed with grey shade (forgot the color name!) and edges by Black Soot. Stamps are by Stampers Anonymous and flowers used in here are mixed few by Recollection, Prima and others are from a local store. For butterflies, I have used a Sizzix die and later distressed them in various colors.

I love the word art stamp! It went well with the theme.

Forgot to mention earlier, banner is a die-cut by Sizzix.

Box sides are covered by using a different paper from the same DCWV pad. Edges are distressed in Black Soot.

Now comes the inside part! Left side has been covered with the distress paper and then a personalized note is added on it. Why waste the space? When we have got plenty!

On the right, a lot of emblishments have been used as you can see. Metal, florals, die-cuts .. Literally everything!

That cute mini envelope is a Bigz die by Sizzix which has note in it. Metal embellishments are just random ones which them from a local store. && for that mini jar I just added some silver glitter and added a stamped name tag and glued the cork.

Laces have been distress painted and the top and the bottom lace is a black card stock which have punched by Martha Stewart edge punch.

That is it! It took about 2 days to complete this project as I am a impatient crafter. Haha! Hope you like it!

An Orange Effect Photo Canvas

Presenting one my favorites again, this time it's a Personalized Photo Canvas, I really enjoyed making it. I have been using Distress Paints a lot lately on wooden frames and canvas, Here I have painted it with Antique Linen. I love the soft tone it gives.

Then I embellished it with some flowers, die-cuts, lace and so much more.

I hope you like it!

Shabby Blues Canvas

Hello everyone!

I created this few weeks back using various of items. To start with, I have used Distress Paint in Weathered Wood to paint the canvas. I love the matte effect it gives! If you're into painting or mixed media projects, you have to use Distress Paints. They are just superb!

Then I have used a felt design in white which I bought from a local store months ago and it was not coming in use until I started making this. At the beginning, I painted the felt by Distress Paint but it didn't came out right so at the end I just turned it around and used the original white side.

After that, I topped it with few flowers by Recollections and die-cuts which are by Sizzix. I cut the small part of black wire, started rolling it and stopped when I came across just like what I wanted it to be. Later I filled the tiny jar with some silver glitter and printed out 'live' for it.

I loved how it turned out! I was pretty with the outcome.

Let me know what do you think about my project!

Deep Blue Me Wooden Frame

And here comes the last post of the Personalized Photo Hangers. This one is in neutral tone. It can be perfect for anyone who likes light shades.

Now let's get into the details .. Shall we?

I have used Distress Paint on the frame. Flowers are from Recollections and die-cuts by Sizzix. There is a metal embellishment on the left corner just below Teal flower. It's by Tim Holtz.

Card stock is by DCWV Fresh Floral Stack. I love the pattern! Grey colored twine is used to put up the photo mat.

I really hope you enjoyed the series! I will be back soon hopefully with another interesting post. Till next time!

Tiptoe Through the Tulips Wooden Frame

Today I am posting a darker shade of frame. I have painted it with Distress Paint in Aged Mahogany. I love this color! It's so bold and beautiful! I have paired it with lighter color embellishments mostly beige with grey and mustard yellow. Metal corner by Tim Holtz is in dull copper tone.

Recollections flowers are used with few leafy Sizzix die-cuts. I am pretty much using it on every other project of mine.

I hope you like today's personalized frame. Tomorrow there would be a new one and sadly that would be the last post of the Personalized Photo Hangers series.

I look forward to hearing from you back. See you tomorrow!

Fuchsia Floret Wooden Frame

Hello again!

I am trilled to share this project with you all. This was the very first altered frame I did. I had this wooden frame since 5 or more years and its texture was getting darker and it started to look unclean. So, one day I thought why not I alter it and this is what I came out with.

Let's go through the products what I have used in here..

Firstly, I covered the entire frame with Distress Paint. I used Antique Linen in here to give a neutral look. Then I embellished it with various flowers. Few are from Prima Marketing and Recollections and rest I bought from a random store. Die-cuts are by Sizzix and metal corner is by Tim Holtz.

Secondly. instead of adding a plain paper. I took a pattern paper from DCWV Old World Stack and attached a twine in a twisted manner. Next I took a mini clip distressed it with the same paint to match it with the frame.

Lastly, I added a Photo Mat and a PCW Chalkboard Word Art

This way you can frame your favorite photos in style and make them last a lifetime.

I hope you enjoyed my post! See you next time!
